Cam Ward Makes NCAA History in His Final College Game

Cam Ward delivered an unforgettable performance in his final college game, making NCAA history while representing the Miami Hurricanes. The quarterback threw his 156th career touchdown pass, connecting with Jacolby George for a 4-yard score with 4:12 left in the first quarter of the Pop-Tarts Bowl.

This achievement broke the Division I record for career touchdown passes, surpassing the 155 set by Houston’s Case Keenum between 2007 and 2011. Ward didn’t stop there, adding two more touchdown passes in the first half to bring his career total to 158. Despite his incredible performance, Miami lost a nail-biter to Iowa State, 42-41.

Speaking after the game, Ward reflected on his journey. “Just blessed, man,” he told WQAM radio. “I’ve grown so much as a person this year, outside of football. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way.”

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal addressed the decision to bench Ward in the second half, stating, “All meetings with players, and decisions like that, we made them in private, and we keep them in private.”
